About Kerrville

Kerrville is the largest city in the Hill Country and the gateway to deeper Texas wilderness. The Guadalupe River runs right through town, and the city has developed a rich arts identity anchored by the Cowboy Artists of America Museum and the legendary Kerrville Folk Festival — one of the longest-running folk music festivals in the country, held every May–June for 18 days under the Kerrville skies.

Things to Do

1

Kerrville Folk Festival

Eighteen days of camping and music along the Guadalupe River every May and June. The festival has launched more Texas singer-songwriters than any other single event. Over 100 performers, 33 stages, and 30,000+ attendees across three weekends. A bucket list experience for music lovers.

2

Museum of Western Art

The Cowboy Artists of America founded this museum in 1983 to preserve and celebrate the art of the American West. The collection focuses on realistic Western painting and sculpture — beautifully executed and genuinely moving.

3

Kerrville-Schreiner Park

A 517-acre state park along the Guadalupe with camping, swimming, hiking, and some of the best birding in the Hill Country. The cypress-lined riverbank is stunning year-round.

4

Riverside Nature Center

A 6-acre outdoor classroom and native plant garden along the river, with guided hikes, butterfly counts, and programs about Hill Country ecosystems.

Where to Eat

🍽️

Francisco's

The best fine dining in the Hill Country, full stop. The menu changes with the seasons, the wine list is exceptional, and the setting in an old limestone building is exactly right.

🍽️

Billy Gene's

Breakfast and lunch spot beloved by locals. The migas and the biscuits are worth the trip alone.

🗺️ Getting There

60 miles northwest of San Antonio on I-10 and TX-27. 100 miles west of Austin.

📅 Best Time to Visit
